Hello world!

In October I start a course in creative writing at the Open University.I received the course materials last week and have already started some of the exercises. I’ve got my notebook in my bag and have been scribbling a bit on the journey in to work of a morning. Most of it is rubbish, but one or two pieces might have potential, we shall see when we start the course properly. I’ve started this blog to allow me to share some of the pieces that I’m comfortable sending out into the world.

I’m not entirely sure why I’m doing the course. There are common-sense reasons, like I do a lot of writing for my work and it would be good to do so a bit better. I also have one or two ideas buzzing around in my heads for plays and novels and I’d like some impetus to make me sit down and commit them to paper. Maybe I dream of one day being a best-selling author, living in my little house in France, inspired by the beauty around me.

Although I am a civil servant, I’ve always had a strongly creative side. I have acted in and directed theatre works for many years. I knit and crochet and I recently started making jewellery. So I guess I will also use this site from time to time to showcase my other creative outlets.

So, welcome to Creative Antonia.
