Gone but not inactive

I haven’t been updating my creativity blog recently, but I have been far from inactive on the creative side. Here’s a taster of what I’ve been up to:

Knitting

This remains my default creative occupation, probably because it’s so relaxing, and can be done when I’m hibernating at home at the weekend. I’m on Ravelry as antoniasm, so you can see what I’m up to there. Probably my favourite thing recently has been my cup cozy, which I keep in my handbag and whip out in coffee shops, eschewing the paper holder they give me. It never fails to get commented on! It’s very easy to knit, and you can find details here.

I also learnt a new stitch, linen stitch, and made a belt out of it. Not sure about the belt itself, but I’m loving the stitch and I’m sure I’ll find a good use for it.

Theatre

I directed a show called Private Fears in Public Places for the Alexandra Players in November, which went down very well: practically full houses all three nights and very good feedback from the audiences. I also built the website and have been keeping that going, updating the archive and photo gallery with past productions. I’m not involved with anything at the moment, beyond doing box office for the next production.

Dance

I’m doing tango lessons at the moment. I’ve done a couple of workshops before, but this is a whole new level. I feel broken down and rubbish at the moment, because Ricardo is focusing on getting our technique spot on from the get go. But I’ll be very glad of that in the long run. And it’s a dance form I’ve wanted to master for years and years.

Sewing

This is a bit of a new one for me. I bought a quite simple sewing machine, mainly for my knitting – when making bag linings and so on, you really need a sewing machine to get it right. I’ve done a first lesson, which was very useful, and hope to develop my sewing skills in the future!
